MANCHESTER, KY (July 28, 2021) - Clay County, Kentucky Jailer Linda Smallwood is reporting that the Clay County Detention Center is experiencing an outbreak of Covid.

Sheriff's Office, Banks Fire, and Oregon Department of Transportation responded to the report of a two-vehicle collision on Hwy. 6 near milepost 33 west of Banks.

Southeastern Kentucky student awarded Mavis F. Broome Scholarship

WILLIAMSBURG, KY -  The Mavis F. Broome Scholarship was established in 2017 by the family of the late Mavis Broome, a beloved wife, mother, and teacher. She taught elementary and special education in McCreary County for 27 years and taught evening special education courses at University of the Cumberlands (then Cumberland College) for approximately 10 of those years, sometimes teaching on weekends. Her husband, Dr. John Broome, taught at Cumberlands from 1966 – 1999 and continues to live in Williamsburg. Their three daughters, who all work at the University, graduated from Cumberlands and married fellow Cumberlands alumni.

Berea, Kentucky Man Sentenced to Prison for Production of Child Pornography with a 7-Year-old Victim

FRANKFORT, KY — A Berea, Ky., man, Bradley Scott Helton, 33, was sentenced on Thursday, July 15, 2021 to 214 months in federal prison, by U.S. District Judge Gregory VanTatenhove, for using a minor to produce child pornography.
