Shoplifting and other charges in southern Laurel County


Laurel County, KY - Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Deputy Larry Parrott arrested Paul Houston age 53 of Kensee Hollow, Williamsburg on Thursday evening December 15, 2016 at approximately 5:21 PM.

The arrest occurred at Walmart near Corbin in southern Laurel County after Walmart's loss prevention team detained this subject.

When Deputy Parrott arrived at the scene and conducted an investigation he learned that this subject had allegedly been observed concealing a wrench set under his jacket and attempting to leave the store without paying for the merchandise. Value of the theft was over $29.

In addition this subject was determined to be under the influence – he admitted taking neurotin and was found in possession of five Suboxone packs and could not produce a prescription. He had previously been trespassed from Walmart stores.

Paul Houston was charged with theft by unlawful taking – shoplifting; criminal trespassing – third-degree; possession of a controlled substance; and public intoxication – controlled substances.

This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
