Arrest following a suspicious person complaint in Laurel Co.

Laurel County, KY - Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Josh Scott along with Sgt. Brett Reeves arrested Johnathon Proffitt age 26 of London on Monday morning February 19, 2018 at approximately 8:48 AM.

The arrest occurred off Philpot Road approximately 2 miles west of London after deputies were dispatched to a suspicious person complaint there.

Upon arrival at the scene, the suspect, who was on a business property, observed deputies and attempted to flee on foot and following a search was found inside a storage trailer on a business property there.

An investigation was conducted and this subject was determined to have an outstanding warrant of arrest. Johnathon Proffitt was charged with fleeing or evading police – second degree – on foot.

In addition, this subject was charged on a Laurel District Court warrant of arrest obtained by London Police Officer Greg Turner charging theft by unlawful taking $500 or more but under $10,000 – allegedly this subject removed items from a motel room including a television, blankets, and bath towels.

This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
