Andrew English will also service as Executive Director of the Office of Technology and Special Audits
FRANKFORT, Ky. (June 21, 2019) – On Thursday June 20, 2019, Auditor Mike Harmon announced the appointment of Andrew English as the new General Counsel for the Office of the Auditor of Public Accounts (APA). English will also serve as the Executive Director for the Office of Technology and Special Audits, overseeing the division responsible for recent special examinations like the Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC).
“Andrew brings a tremendous background in the legal field, and the leadership experience essential to serving in these key roles for our office,” Auditor Harmon said. “Our special audits division is an area of great importance that works to bring greater accountability and transparency to areas of state and local government, and we are pleased to have Andrew managing this vital area.”
“I’m excited to join Auditor Harmon and his team, and continue the outstanding work that his office has done in the last three plus years to eliminate waste, fraud and abuse, and bringing more transparency and accountability of state and local government to the Kentuckians we all serve,” English said.
English is a 2010 graduate of the Marshall-Wythe Law School, and the Thomas Jefferson School of Public Policy from the College of William and Mary. English previously served three years as General Counsel for the Kentucky Justice and Public Safety Cabinet, and nearly six years in the U.S. Navy Judge Advocate General’s (JAG) Corps, both as a supervisory prosecutor, and supervisor defense counsel among several positions.
English replaces Chris Hunt, who returned to private law practice. Hunt had served as General Counsel since 2017, and Executive Director for the Office of Technology and Special Audits since 2018.
