Fleeing-Evading lands 7 individuals in jail / Clay County

Clay County, Ky. - Sheriff Patrick Robinson is reporting that on July 11, 2019 at approximately 10:45 PM Clay County Sheriff Deputy Tommy Houston, Clay County Sheriff Deputy Brandon Edwards and Clay County CSO Wes Brumley arrested seven individuals.

The arrests occurred when Deputy Tommy Houston and CSO Wes Brumley attempted to conduct a traffic stop of a Silver G6, once Deputy Houston initiated his emergency lights the driver of the car accelerated in speed with attempt to evade Deputies. The driver pulled into a residence on South Highway 421 and attempted to flee on foot.

Arrested was:

  • Timothy Jones, 23 of McKee
  • Michael Jones, 40 of London
  • Courtney Champion, 25 of McKee 
  • Ronald Collins, 43 of Fishtrap Road
  • Rebecca Couch, 44 of South Highway 421
  • Kristie Estep, 37 of South Highway 421
  • Jennifer Collins, 35 of South Highway 421

All subjects was apprehended upon attempting to leave the car, through investigation the driver of the vehicle showed signs of impairment. The driver refused to submit to a blood test.

Two passengers of the car was also arrested once information through Clay County Dispatch came back confirming the female passenger had an active bench warrant for her arrest. The male passenger was determined to be manifestly under the influence along with having drug paraphernalia on his person.

While conducting an investigation, into a possible location of a stolen ATV on South Highway 421 a female suspect became disorderly toward deputies while they was conducting their investigation.

Once the female was placed under arrest she began to resist arrest, she was placed under arrest without further incident.

Upon running the information of 2 more female individuals that was at the property it was confirmed through Clay County Dispatch that both subjects. Deputies located a male subject hiding under the porch, through investigation it was determined the subject was under the influence of intoxicants.

Timothy Jones, 23 was charged with:

• Operating Motor Vehicle Under the Influence of ALC/DRUGS/ETC.
• Fleeing or Evading Police, 2nd Degree (Motor Vehicle)
• No Operator/Moped License
• Failure of Non Owner Operator to Maintain Required Insurance

Michael Jones, 40 was charged with:

• Public Intoxication of Controlled Substance (Excludes Alcohol)
• Drug Paraphernalia Buy/Possess

Courtney Champion, 25 was charged with:

• Serving Bench Warrant for Court

Ronald Collins, 43 was charged with:

• Public Intoxication of Controlled Substance (Excludes Alcohol)

Rebecca Couch, 44 was charged with:
• Serving Clay County Indictment Warrant
• Serving Clay County Indictment Warrant
• Serving Bench Warrant For Court

Kristie Estep, 37 was charged with:
• Disorderly Conduct, 1st Degree
• Resisting Arrest
• Menacing
• Public Intoxication of Controlled Substance (Excludes Alcohol)

Jennifer Collins, 35 was charged with:

• Serving Bench Warrant For Court
