Clay County, Ky. - Sheriff Patrick Robinson is reporting that on July 16, 2019 at approximately 2:30 PM Clay County Sheriff Detective Jeff Kelsey arrested Grant Smith, 27 of London.
The arrest occurred when Chief Deputy Jones was patrolling Highway 80 when the above mentioned subject attempted to pull into a vacant lot to elude Chief Jones.
Detective Kelsey made contact with the subject, through investigation it was determined the motorcycle the individual was operating on had no registration plate.
During search of incident Det. Kelsey located an illegal substance on the person of the individual.
Grant Smith was charged with:
• Failure to Produce insurance card
• No Registration Plate
• No Registration Receipt
• Possession of a Controlled Substance 1st degree 1st offense (Methamphetamine)
Assisting at the scene with arrest was Clay County Chief Deputy Clifton Jones, CSO Supervisor Dewey Grubb, CSO Wes Brumley and Clay County Sheriff PAO Trent Baker.
