Theft Victim locates & detains Suspect til Police arrive / Laurel County

Laurel County, Ky. - Sheriff John Root is reporting that Deputy Joey Robinson arrested Michael Taylor age 32 of Corbin, KY on Thursday July 25, 2019 at approximately 7:14 PM.

The arrest occurred on Robert E. Cox Rd, 9 miles south of London. Deputy Robinson was responding to a reported fight in progress where apparently a victim of a vehicle theft found his stolen vehicle and detained the suspect.

Deputy Charlie Johnson had entered a stolen vehicle on July 25, 2019 at approximately 8:24AM. Later on the same date at approximately 7:00 PM the victim of the theft located the vehicle and observed Taylor attempt to leave the area in the vehicle.

The victim was accompanied by his brother when they stopped Taylor from leaving. Taylor then exited the vehicle in an aggressive manner and came toward the victim and his brother.

In self defense, the victim and his brother took Taylor to the ground and held him there until Deputy Robinson arrived.

Taylor was still combative and resisted arrest while Robinson was attempting to handcuff him. After a brief scuffle Taylor was detained.

Michael Taylor was charged with:

Receiving Stolen Property U/$10,000 and Resisting Arrest 

This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Corrections Center.
