Laurel County, KY - Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Jamie Etherton and Deputy Taylor McDaniel arrested Tyrone Smith age 47 of Riverbend Road, London on Saturday afternoon August 3, 2019 approximately 1:17 PM.
The arrest occurred off Highway 770 at a business after deputies were dispatched to a disturbance complaint there.
Upon arrival at the scene deputies observed this subject in possession of a needle and the spoon and determined that he was under the influence. Deputies also learned that this individual had created a disturbance in the parking lot of the business there.
During the arrest, this individual struggled with both deputies causing injuries to both. This individual stated that he was under the influence of cocaine and alcohol.
Tyrone Smith was charged with:
- Disorderly conduct – second-degree
- Menacing
- Resisting arrest
- Possession of a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – cocaine
- Possession of drug paraphernalia
- Two counts of assault – third-degree – police officer is victim
- A Harlan District Court bench warrant of arrest charging failure to appear in court on charges of flagrant nonsupport
This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
