KSP Arrests Man Following the Death of a Two Year Old Child

WHITLEY CITY, Ky. (August 28, 2019) – On Sunday, August 25, 2019, just after 7:30 PM, the Kentucky State Police, London Post received a call from Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset in reference to a juvenile had been transported from McCreary County with life threatening injuries.

 She was later transported to the University of Kentucky Hospital where she died Tuesday evening.

The initial investigation alleges that the two year old child was assaulted by a man in McCreary County while she was in his care. As a result of the ongoing investigation, Michael C. Huff, 27 years old of Whitley City, was arrested just after 6:00 PM Tuesday and is lodged in the Leslie County Detention Center charged with:

  • Assault, 1st Degree

The child has been taken to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Frankfort for an autopsy.

The ongoing investigation is being conducted by KSP Post 11 Trooper Harrison Wells. He was assisted by KSP Personnel, Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office, McCreary County Sheriff’s Office, and the Fayette County Coroner.
