Middlesboro, Ky. (October 3, 2019) — On October 2, 2019, the Kentucky State Police Electronic Crime Branch arrested Jason L. Laws, 42, on charges related to possessing or viewing matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor in the 1st degree.
Laws was arrested as the result of an undercover Internet Crimes Against Children investigation. The KSP Electronic Crime Branch began the investigation after discovering the suspect uploading images of child sexual exploitation online.
The investigation resulted in the execution of a search warrant at a residence in Middlesboro on October 2, 2019. Equipment used to facilitate the crime was seized and taken to KSP’s forensic laboratory for examination. The investigation is ongoing.
Laws is currently charged with:
- Twenty counts of possessing or viewing matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor in the 1st degree
Possessing or viewing matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor in the 1st degree is a Class D-Felony and is punishable by one to five years in prison.
Laws was lodged in the Bell County Detention Center.
