Subway of Manchester not honoring FREE $6 (3, 2 dollar coupons) downloaded from Subway app / REASON WHY

Restaurant

MANCHESTER, KY (October, 23, 2019) - Subway - Manchester, KY is reporting via social media that: Effective immediately Subway of Manchester will not honor or be accepting the free $6 (3, 2 dollar coupons) Subway is giving for downloading the Subway app either in or our store or for on-line ordering.

On Monday, without letting their franchisee's know, Subway sent out emails offering 3, 2 dollar coupons ($6) to people if they downloaded the Subway app and registered their email.

Within hours people figured out how to scam the system by creating fake email accounts, ordering multiple (our highest count was 10) subs, wanting them rang up separately so they could use the reward from one email, log out and log in under a different email to get the next free and so on. Before we caught on people started using them on-line doing the same thing, ordering multiple subs using multiple coupons on multiple accounts but for 1 person thus over loading our workers.

These people went as far as to blatantly tell other customers while in line, out loud, how to scam the system to get as much free food as they wanted.

Once we were notified of the scam and how it was working we had already lost around $500 in just a day and a half. We instructed our employees to tell people we weren't doing it anymore and called our inspector to let him know what was going on.

At this point an online order for 7 subs was pushed through and an employee called the customer back to tell them we weren't doing it anymore and she was cussed out, berated and threatened with bodily harm over the phone. In order to stop the scam and for the safety of our employee we told them to close at 7:30. About 20 minutes later a woman came banging on the door and windows screaming for her free subs, threatening the employee and calling headquarters. We had another employee in the back who was in tears out of fear and frustration of everything that had occured.

Let me say first, we will never, ever tolerate a customer cussing at or threatening our employees for not getting their way. If we are ever in the store and hear this or are told of this you will be removed from the store permanently.

Second, this is EXTREMELY unethical and is considered theft. We are a small business that is locally owned. When you do this you aren't scamming a multi million dollar business somewhere way off. We shop at IGA with you, we sit at "Mexican" with you after church on Sundays. We cheer on the Tigers with you and our family is rooted in Clay County. Not only have you stolen from us, your neighbor, but you have also stolen wages from the employees that lost 2 hours work because we were forced to close. We have decided to pay them for those hours because it's not their fault we closed, it is yours, the scammer.

Some people quickly decided to blast us on Facebook about our horrible customer service and not giving them their free food. Others started in (sadly, people I know), about how there is nothing good in this county and everything is garbage and to that I say do one of two things:

  • 1. Quit your job (if you have one), open a business in this county and deal with people like yourself daily and see how you handle it or:
  • 2. Move.

Your Subway in Manchester is in the Lexington market and we are known throughout that market as being the cleanest Subway they have, our inspectors love our store because they never have any issues and we are ahead of the game. When inspectors come to our store, they rest.

We have a town full of wonderful restaurants to eat at, most of them mom and pop who work their butts off to provide you with good food and good service, if you find issues with all of them, I would venture to say you are the problem and not them.

If you used the coupon honestly we thank you and look forward to serving you again and are sorry for the inconvenience these people have caused.

If you are reading this and you are a scammer, you reap what you sow in life. In the future if you find yourself in hard times remember this post and we hope you enjoyed the free food.

If you would like to complain, please call 760-706-7425, our store number is 7986. Our inspector told us to do whatever it took to protect our business and employees and that's what we have done.

Have a blessed day Clay County
