Ode to Thanksgiving Day
Tis' finally the day we have waited for all year; For today is the day we enjoy family and friends that we hold so dear; Tis' the day we all cherish, And with Faith in God we shall flourish!
Turkey baking in the oven with aroma wafting through the air,
In a Bustling kitchen without a minute to spare;
Ham marinated in pineapples with savory flavors we love;
Buttered rolls, peas, corn, and macaroni that taste as if they come from up above;
Tasty pies, cakes, candies and the like;
We recall these special treats from childhood much like we remember riding our bike;
Christ, God, Jesus lifted up by prayer;
We look forward to the moment when we can finally settle down in an easy chair;
Faith which sustains, Friends who remain;
We hope to avoid the spills that stain;
Food that nourishes from the hands that prepare;
We enjoy a meal that there is no compare;
Moms, Dads, Brothers, Sisters, and Kin; We speak of those we miss;
It is this day that we all share a kiss;
God, Country, and Military man,
They stand to support us and create a place where we can;
Pilgrims and Patriots, we remember them so, we have this moment because of thee; it is no wonder we say thank ye
Television parades, the football game we don't want to miss; it is this holiday season that we hold so dear, and yes the remote is always near;
So, with this moment in time that will come and go; let's all take a minute to say hello, to friend and neighbor alike, let's all love one another with all our might!
