DUI/Trafficking arrest south of London during complaint investigation

Laurel County, Ky. (December 16, 2019) -  Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Joey Robinson arrested Scottie R. Abrams age 43 of Burnett Rd., London on Sunday morning December 15, 2019 at approximately 8:50 AM.

The arrest occurred at a business off Barbourville Road, approximately 3 miles south of London after Deputy Robinson was dispatched to a complaint that a male subject was possibly passed out in a silver four-door car there.

When Deputy Robinson arrived at the scene, he located a silver colored Chevrolet Cobalt in front of the business ,engine running and the driver apparently passed out.

After numerous attempts to awaken Mr. Abrams he was finally awakened and asked to step out of the vehicle.

During Deputy Robinson's investigation, the subject was found with a Taurus .380 handgun tucked in his front waist band and a knife holster with a fixed blade long knife on his hip. Deputy Robinson noted that this individual reached for the firearm during his investigation. This individual was determined to be under the influence.

During arrest this individual was found in possession of a white crystal substance believed to be methamphetamine, a set of scales, and a syringe. In addition, it was determined that this individual was a convicted felon.

Scottie R. Abrams was charged with:

  • Operating a motor vehicle under the influence – first offense
  • Trafficking in a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – Methamphetamine
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Persistent felony possession of firearm
  • Resisting arrest
  • Menacing
  • Two probation violation warrants

This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
