MANCHESTER, KY - The Clay County Sheriff's Office is reporting that: On Friday, January 31, 2020 at approximately 3:45 PM Clay County Sheriff Patrick Robinson along with Clay County Sheriff Sgt. Jeremy Gabbard and Deputy Cody Blackwell arrested Shawn Shoupe, 33 of Curry Branch Road.
The arrest occurred when Sheriff Robinson was responding to a complaint of an intoxicated male subject on South Highway 421.
Upon arrival, Sheriff Robinson located the male subject walking alongside the road.
Through investigation it was determined the subject was under the influence of intoxicants, while being placed under arrest the subject became combative and attempted to strike Sheriff Robinson.
After a brief struggle the subject was placed under arrest without further incident.
Shawn Shoupe was charged with:
• Resisting arrest
• Public Intoxication of Controlled Substance (Excludes Alcohol)
