LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Joey Robinson along with Deputy Allen Turner arrested Ronda K. Wright age 50 of Vanover Ridge Rd., Parkers Lake, KY on Sunday night February 17, 2020 at approximately 11:58 PM.
The arrest occurred on the Hal Rogers Parkway approximately 3 miles east of London while deputies were investigating the complaint of a female subject walking in the middle of the roadway there.
Upon arrival in the vicinity of the complaint deputies located a female subject on the side of the roadway and observed a white Chevrolet Malibu pulling away from the shoulder headed eastbound on Hal Rogers Parkway.
When deputies pulled up to the female subject on the roadside they learned that she had stopped to check on a female subject in the roadway and while checking on the female subject, the female subject grabbed the female victim by the shoulders shaking her violently then pushing her away from her car, and jumped into the victim's car and fled eastbound on the parkway.
Deputies were able to catch up to the white Chevrolet Malibu which was eastbound on the parkway activating their emergency equipment and getting the vehicle to stop there (approximately 2 miles from where the suspect had stolen the car).
Deputies noted the smell of alcoholic beverages from the suspect and upon arrest the suspect cursed and screamed and had to be placed into the patrol car. Deputies noted that all the way to the correctional facility, this subject screamed and hit her head on the protective screen in the patrol car.
Rhonda Wright was charged with:
- Robbery – second-degree
- Operating a motor vehicle under the influence – first offense
- Disorderly conduct – second-degree
- Menacing
- Resisting arrest
This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
