CRANKS, KY (March 29, 2020) – Kentucky State Police, Post 10 Harlan received a call on March 29, 2020 at 12:06 a.m. reporting an ATV accident that occurred off of the roadway in the Crummys community of Harlan County. Troopers from Post 10 responded and began an investigation.
The initial investigation indicates Dewey Peggs Jr, 43 years old, of Cawood was operating a blue 2007 Honda Rancher off of the roadway adjacent to U.S. Highway 421.
Mr. Peggs lost control of the ATV causing him to strike a rock embankment. The ATV then overturned and landed on Mr. Peggs.
Harlan County Deputy Coroner Jim Rich pronounced Mr. Peggs deceased at the scene.
The investigation is continuing by Tpr. Tate Knight. Also assisting at the scene were Lifeguard EMS and Harlan County Coroner's Office.
