LONDON, KY (May 13, 2020) - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Justin Taylor along with Deputy Landry Collett arrested three individuals on Sunday night May 10, 2020 at approximately 11:29 PM.
The arrests occurred off Happy Hollow Road, approximately 8 miles South of London following a short pursuit of a dark green Ford Ranger after deputies attempted to stop the vehicle on a traffic violation and the vehicle failed to stop accelerating to 25 MPH over the limit before finally stopping.
During the stop and investigation, the driver and passengers were determined to be under the influence and driver and two passengers were found in possession of a reported stolen firearm, a .38 caliber Smith & Wesson revolver.
The arrested individuals were identified as:
David W. Miracle of McClure Bridge Rd., Lily, KY charged with:
- Operating a motor vehicle under the influence – first offense
- Speeding 25 mph over the limit
- Failure to signal
- Obstructed vision or wind shield
- Fleeing or evading police – first-degree – motor vehicle
- Operating on suspended or revoked operator's license
- Failure to wear seatbelts
- Receiving stolen property – firearm
Melissa R. Ballinger of Pawnee Dr., Cannon, KY charged with:
- Public intoxication – controlled substances
- Receiving stolen property – firearm
Joshua C. Jones age 34 of Radar Ridge, London, KY charged with:
- Public intoxication – controlled substances
- Receiving stolen property – firearm
All three individuals were lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
