LONDON, KY (June 22, 2020) - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Justin Taylor along with Detective James Sizemore, Deputy Landry Collett, Deputy James Fox, and Deputy Tommy Houston arrested Roger Dale Sevier age 51 of Hopkins Hill Rd., Corbin early Monday morning June 22, 2020 at approximately 3:19 AM.
The arrest occurred at a motel off West Cumberland Gap Parkway approximately 10 miles South of London after deputies were dispatched to possible drug activity in the back parking lot of the motel there.
Upon arrival at the scene deputies located a blue passenger car in the parking lot observing a male subject exiting and upon this subject observing deputies, the suspect began walking quickly to the rear entry of the motel.
When deputies made contact with the suspect, the individual gave deputies a false name.
During the investigation the suspect’s correct name was determined and it was learned that there was an active parole violation warrant for his arrest.
Upon arrest, the suspect was found in possession of:
- Suspected Methamphetamine
- Clonazepam tablets
- Glass smoking pipes
- Digital scales
- Drug ledgers
- Marijuana
Roger Dale Sevier was charged with:
- Fleeing or evading police – second-degree – on foot
- Giving officer false identifying information
- Trafficking in a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – Methamphetamine
- Possession of a controlled substance – third-degree
- Possession of drug paraphernalia
- Possession of Marijuana
In addition, the subject was charged on a parole violation warrant charging absconding parole supervision and failure to attend treatment for substance abuse regarding a conviction in Laurel Circuit Court on charges of:
- Manufacturing Methamphetamine – first offense
- Manufacturing Methamphetamine first offense in Knox County
This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
