3 Drug Trafficking arrests following a traffic stop on S. Highway 27 in Somerset, Ky.

Contraband 3 suspects 8 18 20

SOMERSET, KY (Aug 19, 2020) - Pulaski County Sheriff Greg Speck reports that three people were arrested following a traffic stop by Deputy Tan Hudson on S. Highway 27 in Somerset, Kentucky.

Deputy Hudson observed a 2002 Gold Lincoln that had improper registration plates and stopped the vehicle. When he approached the vehicle, he made contact with the driver, Jeffrey W. Holder, age 44, of Hacker Road in Somerset and also discovered that he had a suspended driver’s license. Deputy Hudson also identified two other people in the car, Carah Bell, age 28, of Rush Branch Road in Somerset, and Denton Meece, age 30, of Fishing Creek Road in Yosemite, Kentucky (Casey County).

During Deputy Hudson’s investigation, he discovered a small amount of Methamphetamine on Ms. Bell in her pocket. Deputy Hudson continued his search and found 52 Grams of Methamphetamine in the vehicle, 33 Grams of Marijuana along with scales commonly used in the weighing of illegal drugs.

All three of the people in the car were arrested and transported to the Pulaski County Detention Center. Deputy Hudson warned the three individuals that if they had anything illegal on them and they found it at the jail they would be charged with that. A search of Ms. Bell at the jail by jail personnel turned up an additional 53 Grams of Meth bringing the total amount of Methamphetamine found to 108 Grams or 3.8 Ounces with a street value of over $10,000. Deputy Hudson also located $1,083.00 in cash during the investigation.

Arrested by Deputy Hudson was:

Jeffrey Holder charged with:

• Trafficking in a Controlled Substance, 1st Degree, 1st Offense (greater than 2 grams of Methamphetamine)
• Drug Paraphernalia – Deliver/Manufacture
• Trafficking in Marijuana (Less Than 8 Ounces), 1st Offense

Note: Mr. Holder was also charged with Operator’s License, Registration, and Insurance violations.

Carah Bell was charged with:

• Trafficking in a Controlled Substance, 1st Degree, 1st Offense (greater than 2 grams of Methamphetamine)
• Drug Paraphernalia – Deliver/Manufacture
• Promoting Contraband – 1st Degree (For Concealing Methamphetamine and getting it into the Detention Center after being warned by Deputy Hudson)
• Trafficking in Marijuana (Less Than 8 Ounces), 1st Offense

Denton Meece was charged with: • Trafficking in a Controlled Substance, 1st Degree, 1st Offense (greater than 2 grams of Methamphetamine)
• Drug Paraphernalia – Deliver/Manufacture
• Trafficking in Marijuana (Less Than 8 Ounces), 1st Offense

All three persons arrested were lodged in the Pulaski County Detention Center where they remain lodged as of this press release.

Deputy Hudson was assisted at the scene by Deputy Trent Massey, Deputy Marcus Harrison and Trooper Adam Childress.

This case remains under investigation by Deputy Tan Hudson with the anticipation of presenting it to a future Pulaski County Grand Jury for possible indictments against the individuals.
