LONDON, KY (October 23, 2020) - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's K-9/shift Sgt. Gary Mehler along with Sheriff's detectives and deputies arrested Christopher S. West age 28 of Appaloosa trail, Corbin on Thursday afternoon October 22, 2020 after deputies were dispatched to a complaint of a fight with shots fired.
Upon arrival at the scene an investigation was conducted where it was learned that a verbal argument had apparently escalated into a physical fight between two individuals there. Deputies learned through investigation that allegedly shots had been fired from a rifle. Deputies located the rifle in a residence there.
Deputies learned that apparently the shots had been fired into the air outside the residence. Deputies noted that the incident had occurred in a crowded neighborhood where adults and children were outside at the time.
Christopher West was charged with:
- Two counts of wanton endangerment – first-degree
- Disorderly conduct – second-degree
In addition, this subject was charged on a Whitley District Court bench warrant of arrest charging:
- Failure to appear in court
Also this subject was charged on a Knox County District Court bench warrant of arrest charging:
- Failure to appear in court
This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
