LONDON, KY (December 27, 2020) - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Tommy Houston along with Deputy Hobie Daugherty arrested two individuals early Sunday morning December 27, 2020 at approximately 1:55 AM.
The arrests occurred on Hickory Lane approximately 6 miles north of London following a traffic stop conducted on a black Chevrolet Blazer for a traffic violation.
During the stop it was learned that the vehicle had a canceled registration plate.
An investigation was conducted and the driver and passenger were both determined to be under the influence.
In addition, the 2 individuals were found in possession of:
- Suspected Methamphetamine
- A syringe
- A pipe
The driver was also wanted on an outstanding drug indictment warrant.
The two arrested individuals were identified as:
The driver – James R. Simpson age 37 of Cox Ln., London, KY charged with:
- Operating a motor vehicle under the influence – Third offense
- Possession of a controlled substance – First-degree – Second offense – Methamphetamine
- Possession of Drug paraphernalia
- Driving on DUI suspended license – First offense;
- Failure to signal
- Failure to wear seatbelts
- Improper display of registration plates
- Failure to produce insurance card
In addition, this subject was charged on a Laurel Circuit Court indictment Warrant of Arrest charging:
- Possession of a controlled substance – First-degree – First offense – Methamphetamine
- Operating a motor vehicle under the influence – Third offense
Passenger – Tristan G. Pittman age 24 of Chapel Rd., Bernstadt, KY charged with:
- Public intoxication – Controlled substances
- Possession of controlled substance – First-degree – First offense – Methamphetamine
- Possession of Drug paraphernalia
These two individuals were lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
