Man Charged with Strangulation after allegedly Assaulting a Female Victim in Southeast Kentucky

LONDON, KY (February 8, 2021) - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Travis Napier along with K-9/shift Sgt. Gary Mehler, Deputy Dustin Saylor, and Deputy Marcus Stigall arrested Gregory A. Lewis age 52 of London on Friday evening February 5, 2021 at approximately 6:14 PM.

The arrest occurred off Keavy Road approximately 3 miles South of London after deputies were dispatched to a domestic violence complaint there.

Upon arrival at the scene, deputies learned that allegedly this subject had been involved in a physical altercation with a female subject there.

In addition, allegedly this individual had placed his hands around the female victim's throat, applying pressure to her cutting off her airway before throwing her to the ground with his hand still around her throat.

Gregory A. Lewis was charged with:

  • Assault – 4th degree
  • Strangulation – first-degree

This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
