EMS Notified to Come to Scene of a Physical Altercation Between a Man and Woman in Laurel County, Kentucky

LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's K-9/shift Sgt. Gary Mehler arrested two individuals on Monday evening May 24, 2021 at approximately 6:33 PM.

The arrests occurred off Bluegrass Road, approximately 5 miles north of London after Sgt. Mehler was dispatched to a disturbance complaint there.

Upon arrival at the scene Sgt. Mehler saw a male and female subject attempting to flee toward a mobile home there.

Sgt. Mehler was able to detain both individuals and noted observing visible injuries to both.

An investigation was conducted and it was learned that allegedly the two had had a disagreement that led to a physical altercation between the two subjects with the female subject having been struck to her back and the male subject struck over the head.

Both allegedly admitted to Meth usage earlier.

Sgt. Mehler notified EMS to come to the scene to check on both individuals.

The two arrested individuals were identified as:

Miranda Marie Morris age 28 of East Bernstadt. KY charged with:

  • Assault – second-degree
  • Public intoxication – Controlled substances
  • Disorderly conduct – second-degree

Justin Dewayne Turbyfill age 31 of East Bernstadt, KY charged with:

  • Assault – second-degree
  • Public intoxication – Controlled substances
  • Disorderly conduct – second-degree

These two individuals were lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
