LONDON, KY (June 14, 2021) - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Detective Taylor McDaniel arrested three individuals on two investigations on Friday afternoon June 11, 2021.
At the first investigation on Tackett Spur Road in southern Laurel County while Sheriff's investigators were assisting social services, Meth, hypodermic needles, and glass pipes were discovered.
Arrested was:
Rachel Riggs age 33 of Tackett Spur Road, Lily charged with:
- Possession of a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – Methamphetamine
- Possession of Drug paraphernalia
Jonathan Day age 37 of Tackett Spur Road, Lily charged with:
- Possession of a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – Methamphetamine
- Possession of drug paraphernalia
At the second investigation off Barker Road in southern Laurel County, Sheriff's investigators were conducting a drug trafficking complaint and as deputies and detectives made contact with the residents, an individual inside the residence turned a German shepherd loose on deputies while slamming the door to the residence.
A search warrant was obtained and executed at the residence where a large amount of Methamphetamine, Xanax, digital scales, glass pipes, and US currency were found.
Arrested was:
Michael Detherage age 38 of Barker Road, Lily charged with:
- Wanton endangerment – first-degree – police officer is victim;
- Trafficking in a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – Methamphetamine
- Trafficking in a controlled substance – third-degree – first offense
- Possession of Drug paraphernalia
- Resisting arrest
This individual was also wanted on outstanding Laurel District Court bench warrant of arrest charging:
- Failure to appear in court on charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence
- Other violations
All three individuals were lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
