Driver that Fled Scene of Fatal Traffic Crash on Saturday Afternoon in Laurel County, Kentucky Charged with DUI

LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy/Accident Reconstructionist Brad Mink is investigating a two vehicle fatal traffic crash which occurred on KY 1376 approximately 6 miles north of London on Saturday afternoon June 12, 2021 at approximately 4:43 PM.

Sheriff's investigators report that apparently a Harley Davidson motorcycle traveling westbound on Highway 1376 struck an eastbound Chevrolet Silverado pickup causing a fatal injury to the motorcycle driver.

The driver of the Chevrolet Silverado fled the scene of the crash and was located by an off duty Sheriff's Deputy with assistance from London City Police in London city limits in a Chevrolet Impala.

The driver of the Chevrolet Silverado was identified as Ronnie Davis age 54 of Highway 490, East Bernstadt, KY – received minor injuries from the crash but did not require medical attention.

The driver of the Harley-Davidson motorcycle was identified as Domonic Edward Sanchez age 53 of Xenia, Ohio – pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash by the Laurel County Coroner's office.

Ronnie Davis was charged with:

  • Leaving the scene of an accident
  • Driving on DUI suspended license – first offense

This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.

Deputies assisting for the Laurel County Sheriff's office included: K-9/shift Sgt. Gary Mehler, Deputy Travis Napier, Deputy Brent France, Deputy Brian France, Deputy Greg Poynter. Deputy Brad Mink is the primary investigator/accident reconstructionist.

Other agencies assisting included: East Bernstadt Fire and Rescue, London Laurel Rescue Squad, Laurel County Coroner's office, London City Police.
