Woman in Southeastern Kentucky Facing Attempted Murder Charge after Allegedly Setting Fire to an Occupied Residence

LONDON, KY (July 6, 2021) - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Brent France along with Deputy Marcus Stigall arrested Sheena D. Johnson age 37 of London on Monday night July 5, 2021 at approximately 8:43 PM.

The arrest occurred off Ray Johnson Road, approximately 8 miles north of London after deputies were dispatched to a complaint that a female subject had allegedly set a mobile home on fire and ran next door to a residence.

Upon arrival at the scene deputies located a mobile home with heavy smoke coming from the residence, and learned through investigation that allegedly a female subject named Sheena Johnson had set the fire.

Additionally deputies learned that the mobile home had been occupied and that a neighbor nearby had entered the residence to alert a female subject living there about the fire.

Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County responded to the scene and transported the mobile home’s occupant to a local hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation.

While deputies were on scene, Sheena Johnson came out of a nearby residence and allegedly created a disturbance screaming and cursing and following arrest scuffled with deputies briefly before being taken into custody.

Sheena Johnson was charged with:

  • Arson – first-degree
  • Attempted murder
  • Disorderly conduct – second-degree
  • Resisting arrest

This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
