LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's K-9/shift Sgt. Gary Mehler along with Deputy Greg Poynter arrested Benjamin Todd Collins age 46 of London on Wednesday evening July 7, 2021 at approximately 6:43 PM.
The arrest occurred off Blackwater Road, approximately 7 miles east of London after deputies were dispatched to a domestic disturbance there.
Deputies noted this was the second time they were called to that residence within an hour's time and noted that the suspect had previously fled the scene before deputies arrived there.
Deputies also noted that the female victim had stated that the suspect had punched her in the back of the head before fleeing the residence.
Upon arrival at the scene deputies located the suspect outside the residence and learned that allegedly this individual had struck a female subject in the back of the head a second time.
Deputies also noted detecting a strong odor of alcoholic beverages emitting from the suspect.
Benjamin Todd Collins was charged with:
- Assault – 4th degree
- Alcohol intoxication
This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
