BARBOURVILLE, KY - The Knox County Sheriff's Department is reporting that on Monday, July 5, 2021 at approximately 11:00 AM Knox County Deputy Sam Mullins developed information regarding a man traveling to Knox County from Lexington to deliver a large quantity of Methamphetamine.
On Monday, July 5, 2021 at approximately 3:00 PM the man was located operating a vehicle on South Main Street in Barbourville.
After a traffic stop was conducted over one (1) pound of suspected Methamphetamine was located inside the vehicle along with a stolen loaded handgun and a child approximately 4 years old.
The driver, 36-year-old David E Hamblin of Lexington, KY was arrested and charged with:
- Trafficking in Controlled Substance-1st Degree
- Receiving Stolen Property Property (Firearm)
- Controlled Substance Endangerment to Child
David Hamblin was also wanted on a Laurel County Arrest Warrant for:
- Trafficking in Controlled Substance-1st Degree
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
This individual was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.
A family member was contacted and traveled to the Knox County Sheriff’s Office to pick-up the child.
Officers from the Barbourville Police Department assisted in the arrest.
