LANE COUNTY, OR (August 4, 2021) - The Oregon State Police is reporting that on August 3, 2021, at approximately 3:00 P.M., OSP Troopers from the Oakridge Outpost, La Pine, and Bend Offices responded to the report of a head-on collision on Highway 58 near milepost 61.
Preliminary investigation revealed that a Nissan Sentra, driven by Jerry Edward Anderson (61) of Gilchrist, was westbound when he failed to negotiate a corner.
The Sentra crossed the eastbound lanes and impacted a guardrail. It then went into the eastbound lane and collided head-on with a commercial motor vehicle, driven by Thomas Michael Jennings (45) of Eugene.
Anderson sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased.
Jennings was uninjured.
OSP was assisted by Oakridge Fire Department.
