MANCHESTER, KY - The Manchester Police Department Is reporting that on Monday, August 2, 2021 at approximately 11:35 P.M. Officer Shawn Curry and Officer Antonio Dodson observed a white Chevrolet Camaro operating out of the area of Bridge Street in Manchester KY. Officers at that time could observe that only one head light was visible and operating properly.
Officers Shawn Curry and Antonio Dodson conducted a traffic stop near the Clay County Middle School on Cool Springs Road.
After making contact with the driver Brad Mallory, 41 of London, KY and a female passenger Leeann Smith, 32 of Manchester, KY the Officers discovered through Clay County Dispatch that the passenger Leeann Smith had an active warrant out for her arrest.
After the female was taken into custody, Sgt. Jeff Couch and Lieut. Taye Napier arrived at the scene.
Sgt. Jeff Couch observed a set of steel knuckles in between the center console and passenger seat.
Officer Shawn Curry then asked the driver Brad Mallory if he would give consent to search the vehicle for other possible illegal items or unknown substances. Brad Mallory refused to allow consent at that time.
Officers at the scene then requested the assistance of Clay County Sheriff's K-9 Deputy Wes Brumley and his K-9 "Ghost".
K-9 Ghost (right) alerted several times on the vehicle, a search was conducted and found inside were:
- Three baggies containing a crystalline substance believed to be Methamphetamine
- One glass pipe containing a white residue inside
- U.S currency
Brad Mallory was charged with:
- ONE HEADLIGHT
- TRAFF IN CONT SUB, 1ST DEGREE, 1ST OFF - (> OR = 2 GMS METHAMPHETAMINE)
- POSS CONT SUB 1ST DEG, 1ST OFF (METHAMPHETAMINE)
- DRUG PARAPHERNALIA - BUY/POSSESS
Leeann Smith was charged with:
- TBUT OR DISP ALL OTHERS $10,000 OR MORE BUT U/$1,000,000
- TBUT OR DISP AUTO - $500 OR MORE BUT U/$10,000
These two individuals were booked into the Clay County Detention Center.
