MARION COUNTY, OR (November 22, 2021) - The Oregon State Police is reporting that: On Sunday, November 21, 2021 at approximately 7:12 AM, OSP Troopers and emergency personnel responded to a single vehicle crash on Highway 22E near milepost 34.
Preliminary investigation revealed an eastbound Dodge Caravan, operated by Matthew Chappell (48) of Salem, left the roadway for unknown reasons and crashed several hundred feet off the roadway.
Chappell sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased.
OSP was assisted by Santiam Fire and Rescue and ODOT.
