Drugs and Cash seized from Duo with Active Warrants found "Passed Out" inside Vehicle in Roadway beside Reno's in Pulaski County, Kentucky

Johnson Dodd contraband 11 27 21

SOMERSET, KY - Sheriff Greg Speck is reporting that on November 27, 2021, at approximately 4:10 PM, Deputy Trent Massey and Burnside Police Officer Matt Brown responded to a call of two individuals "passed out" in a vehicle in the roadway beside Reno's Roadhouse. When the officers arrived, both individuals were unable to be woken up.

Officer Brown administered sternum rubs to the male in the driver's seat and eventually woke him up. The female in the front passenger's seat eventually woke up, also. Both individuals appeared to be under the influence of what appeared to be a controlled substance and not alcohol.

The male was identified as Derrick L. Johnson, Jr. age 33, of Park Avenue in Somerset, Kentucky. It was discovered that Mr. Johnson had an active bench warrant out of Pulaski County District Court.

The female was identified as Katelyn Dodd, age 30, of Hardwick Road in Bronston, Kentucky, and was also found to have an active warrant out of Wayne County District Court.

Both people were placed under arrest on the active warrants and for Public Intoxication (Controlled Substance – Excludes Alcohol)

Upon search of the vehicle, Officers located the following:

  • A tied up Walmart bag containing a white crystal-like substance suspected to be Methamphetamine weighing approximately 109 grams
  • A small plastic baggie containing a white crystal-like substance suspected to be Methamphetamine weighing approximately 6.4 grams
  • A small vial containing a gray powder substance suspected to be Heroin weighing approximately 4.2 grams
  • A small vial containing a gray powder and gray rock substance suspected to be Heroin weighing approximately 17.7 grams
  • Asmall vial containing nine (9) Xanax tablets

Officers also located $1,837.00 in US Currency on Ms. Dodd and an additional $210.00 on Mr. Johnson.

Derrick Johnson was arrested for the additional charges of:

1. Trafficking in a Controlled Substance, 1st Degree, 1st Offense – (greater than 2 grams of Methamphetamine)
2. Trafficking in a Controlled Substance, 1st Degree, 1st Offense – (greater than 2 grams of Heroin but less than 100 grams)
3. Trafficking in a Controlled Substance, 2nd Degree, 2nd or greater Offense (less than ten doses of a Schedule 1 and 2 Narcotic)

Katelyn Dodd was arrested for the additional charges of:

1. Trafficking in a Controlled Substance, 1st Degree, 1st Offense – (greater than 2 grams of Methamphetamine)
2. Trafficking in a Controlled Substance, 1st Degree, 1st Offense – (greater than 2 grams of Heroin but less than 100 grams)
3. Trafficking in a Controlled Substance, 2nd Degree, 2nd or greater Offense (less than ten doses of a Schedule 1 and 2 Narcotic)

Both individuals were transported to the Pulaski County Detention Center, where they remain lodged as of this press release.

This investigation remains under investigation by Deputy Trent Massey and Officer Matt Brown.
