SOMERSET, KY - Pulaski County Sheriff Greg Speck is reporting that on Sunday, November 28, 2021, at approximately 11:13 PM, Deputy Tan Hudson stopped a pickup truck on Kentucky 90 in Bronston, Kentucky. In the truck were three people, one of them being James Perry, age 62, of Barnett Road, Parkers Lake, KY.
During a search of the truck, all three occupants were standing at the tailgate of the truck.
After the search of the truck, Deputy Hudson went to where Mr. Perry was standing and noticed a white substance and plastic baggie that looked like it had been stomped on in order to conceal it.
Mr. Perry looked down and at that time a plastic baggie fell out of the bottom of his blue jeans.
Deputy Hudson collected the suspected illegal substances from the ground. James Perry was arrested at that point.
Approximately 33 Grams (Just over an ounce) of suspected Methamphetamine was seized by Deputy Hudson.
This contraband will be sent to the Kentucky State Police Crime lab where the drug and exact weight will be determined.
Trooper Adam Childress, who was on the scene to assist, ran his dash camera back to review the traffic stop. In doing so, you could see what appeared to be Mr. Perry attempting to conceal the drugs.
James Perry (right) was charged with:
- Possession of a Controlled Substance, 1st Degree, 1st Offense (Methamphetamine)
- Failure to Appear (Warrant) from Pulaski District Court for previous traffic related charges in from last year
- Bench Warrant for Failure to Pay Fines for traffic charges that occurred back in 2019
This individual was lodged in the Pulaski County Detention Center.
No illegal drugs were found on either of the other two occupants of the vehicle.
Assisting Deputy Hudson at the scene were Deputy Nick Barber and Trooper Adam Childress.
This case remains open and is under investigation by Deputy Tan Hudson.
