LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Brian France along with K-9/shift Sgt. Gary Mehler and Deputy Dustin Saylor arrested two individuals off Paris Karr Road, approximately 11 miles South of London on Monday afternoon December 13, 2021 at approximately 3:37 PM.
The arrests occurred while Sheriff's deputies were assisting federal marshals on an attempt to apprehend a wanted fugitive. When Deputy France arrived at the scene he observed a male subject attempting to flee from the rear of the residence and after several verbal commands, Deputy France with assistance from Sgt. Mehler detained the suspect and conducted an investigation determining that he was under the influence.
This subject who was identified as Roger Amis age 40 of West City Dam Road, Corbin, KY was found in possession of suspected Methamphetamine and was determined to be wanted on outstanding warrants.
Roger Amis was charged with:
- Public intoxication – controlled substances
- Possession of a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – Methamphetamine
In addition, this subject was charged on a Whitley District Court bench warrant of arrest charging failure to appear on charges of:
- Operating on suspended or revoked operator's license
Amis was also charged on a second Whitley District Court bench warrant of arrest charging failure to appear in court on charges of:
- Public intoxication – controlled substances
- Contempt of court
This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.

Also arrested during the search for the fugitive was Scarlett Lauren Elizabeth Wyatt age 33 of North Florence Street, Corbin, KY.
Scarlett Wyatt (right) was charged on a Whitley District Court bench warrant of arrest charging:
- Failure to appear in court
