Suspect wanted on Felony Indictment Warrants captured in Laurel County, Kentucky during a Theft Investigation

LONDON, KY - The Laurel County Sheriff's Office Is reporting that Sheriff John Root along with Detective Robert Reed, Maj. Chuck Johnson, Capt. Robbie Grimes, Lieut. Chris Edwards, and Deputy Hunter Disney arrested Brandon Gray age 39 of O Johnson Road, approximately 4 miles west of London while deputies were investigating the theft of a soda pop machine and other items that had occurred at a business off West Laurel Road 1 mile west of London, KY.  The incident was reported to the Sheriff's office on Thursday, December 16, 2021.

The Sheriff's office posted a picture of the suspect vehicle on its Facebook page and as a result, information developed on a possible suspect and his location.

Sheriff's investigators traveled to that location off O Johnson Road 4 miles west of London on Friday, December 17, 2021 at 12:17 P.M. with information that a stolen vehicle was at the residence and that the suspect was wanted on several warrants including two felony indictment warrants.

When Sheriff's investigators arrived at the residence, the suspect attempted to flee out the back door of the residence but was captured.

Sheriff's investigators found several items reportedly stolen from the business.

Brandon Gray was charged with:

  • Theft by unlawful taking $1000 or more but under $10,000
  • Three counts of criminal mischief – first-degree
  • Fleeing or evading police – second-degree – on foot
  • Theft by unlawful taking – firearm
  • Theft by unlawful taking – auto – $1000 or more but under $10,000

In addition this subject was charged on a Laurel Circuit Court indictment warrant of arrest charging:

  • Receiving stolen property $10,000 or more

Also the subject was charged on a second Laurel Circuit Court indictment warrant of arrest charging:

  • Fleeing or evading police – first-degree – motor vehicle
  • Criminal mischief – first-degree
  • Resisting arrest
  • Fleeing or evading police – second-degree – on foot
  • Driving on DUI suspended license – first offense
  • Reckless driving

Gray was also charged on a Laurel District Court bench warrant of arrest charging failure to appear in court on charges of:

  • Fleeing or evading police – second-degree – on foot

Also the subject was charged on a second Laurel District Court bench warrant of arrest charging failure to appear in court on charges of:

  • Receiving stolen property under $500

This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
