Indiana Man that left Accident Scene subdued by K-9 and arrested after leading Police on a High Speed Pursuit through Four Counties in Kentucky

PADUCAH, KY – The Kentucky State Police is reporting that: On Sunday, December 26, 2021 KSP, Post 1 received a call that a gold Chevrolet Blazer had struck another vehicle near the 52 mile marker on I-24 and left the scene of the accident just after 1:00 P.M..

Troopers with Kentucky State Police, Post 1 observed the gold Chevrolet Blazer traveling westbound on I-24 at approximately the 43 mile marker in Lyon County. A Trooper activated his emergency equipment to attempt to stop the vehicle, but the operator disregarded the Trooper’s emergency equipment and continued westbound on I-24 reaching speeds of approximately 100 miles per hour in a reckless manner.

The pursuit continued through Lyon County, Livingston County, Marshall County, and McCracken County.

Troopers and Deputies with McCracken County Sheriff’s Office utilized tire deflation devices at several points along the pursuit. At least one tire deflation device made contact with the tires of the gold Chevrolet Blazer; however, the vehicle continued westbound until the tire failed.

The gold Chevrolet Blazer tires failed at approximately the 1.7 mile marker on I-24 and the vehicle came to a stop. The operator of the vehicle failed to comply with law enforcement orders.

The McCracken County Sheriff’s Office utilized a K-9 to subdue the suspect and he was taken into custody.

The operator of the gold Chevrolet Blazer was identified as 45 year old Michael Wayne Brown of Ft. Wayne, Indiana.

Brown refused medical treatment at the scene and at Baptist Health ER. Brown was arrested by Kentucky State Police.

Michael Brown was charged with:

  • Leaving the Scene of an Accident
  • Fleeing or Evading Police
  • Wanton Endangerment
  • Criminal Mischief
  • Trafficking in Marijuana
  • DUI
  • Disorderly Conduct
  • Multiple other traffic offenses

This individual was lodged at the McCracken County Jail.
