LONDON, KY (January 10, 2022) - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Dylan Messer along with Greg Poynter arrested David William McWhorter age 41 of London on Saturday night January 8, 2022 at approximately 7:43 PM.
The arrest occurred off Pine Top Road, approximately 4 miles west of London after deputies were dispatched to an assault complaint there.
While enroute to the scene deputies were advised that the suspect had assaulted a female subject and left the residence walking. Deputies located the suspect walking along the roadway while enroute to the residence.
Deputies learned that the suspect had three outstanding warrants of arrest. Upon arrival at the scene deputies learned that the suspect had apparently been engaged in a verbal argument with the victim went he allegedly pushed her down and strangled her.
Noted was redness and scratches to the victim's neck.
David William McWhorter was charged with:
- Strangulation – first-degree
- Assault – 4th degree
This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
