Two Wanted Subjects arrested at Residence off Old Richmond Road in Laurel County, Kentucky

LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Brian France along with K-9/shift Sgt. Gary Mehler and Deputy Travis Napier arrested two individuals on Thursday night February 3, 2022 at approximately 8:50 PM.

The arrests occurred at a residence off Old Richmond Road, approximately 2 miles north of London while deputies were attempting to serve a parole violation warrant.

Deputies developed information on the whereabouts of a wanted subject and found two subjects there, one identified as the wanted subject and another subject who told deputies he did not know his name, date of birth, or any other identifying information.

It was learned through investigation that the second subject was also a wanted subject wanted on three outstanding warrants.

The two arrested individuals were identified as:

Dakota Smith age 24 of Old Richmond Road, London, KY charged on a Kentucky Parole Board Mandatory reentry supervision violation warrant charging:

  • Absconding parole supervision
  • Failure to report to parole officer as directed regarding a conviction in Laurel Circuit Court on charges of:
  • Wanton endangerment – first-degree
  • Feeing or evading police – first-degree

Jerrad Gilbert age 20 of Old Richmond Road, London, KY charged with:

  • Giving officer false identifying information

In addition, this subject was charged on a Whitley Circuit Court bench warrant of arrest charging:

  • Failure to appear in court on charges of burglary – third-degree
  • Criminal mischief – second-degree

Also, the subject was charged on a Laurel District Court warrant of arrest charging:

  • Criminal trespass – first-degree

This subject was also charged on a second Laurel District Court warrant of arrest charging:

  • Theft by unlawful taking

These two individuals were lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
