SHELBYVILLE KY (February 20, 2022) - On National Missing Persons Day, Thursday, February 3, 2022 Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron's ofice announced that AG Cameron is partnering with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies to ask for the public’s help to locate a missing Shelby County child. Four-year-old Serenity Ann McKinney was last seen over one year ago by family members.
During the nationwide investigation that followed, Serenity Ann's mother, Catherine Abigail McKinney age 21 and her boyfriend, Dakota Hugh Hill age 26 were located and arrested in Kansas on a Custodial Interference Warrant and lodged in the Thomas County Jail in Colby, KS on Sunday, February 6, 2022 before being extradited back to Kentucky.
According to WHAS11 Louisville, four-year-old Serenity Ann McKinney (right) was last seen by her extended family members in Shelbyville, Kentucky on Christmas Eve 2020. More than a year later, she was reported missing to the Shelby County Sheriff's Department.
Wave3 in Louisville, KY is reporting that at around 2:00 P.M. on Friday, detectives found the four year-old’s body in a wooded area near the 1300 block of Skyview Road in West Point near the Jefferson-Bullitt County line, according to Kentucky State Police.
According to Wave3, both mother and boyfriend are from Shepherdsville in Bullitt County, KY.
Catherine McKinney is charged with:
- MURDER
- ABUSE OF CORPSE,
- CUSTODIAL INTERFERENCE
This individual is lodged in the Shelby County Detention Center.
