REPORT: Large Amount of suspected Methamphetamine found during Traffic Stop on Interstate 75 in London, Kentucky

LONDON, KY (March 21, 2022) - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Drug interdiction unit Justin Taylor along with Laurel Sheriff's drug interdiction unit Landry Collett and Deputy Tommy Houston arrested two individuals early Monday morning March 21, 2022 at approximately 3:21 AM.

The arrests occurred on I–75 southbound in London following a traffic stop conducted on a black Honda Accord which was driving erratically. During the stop an investigation was conducted after drug use was suspected.

The female driver, Michelle Jones was found in possession of a large amount of suspected Methamphetamine and digital scales. It was also learned she was wanted on outstanding warrants.

The male passenger Jamie Douglas Wombles was found in possession of a glass smoking pipe with white residue suspected to be Methamphetamine and was determined to be under the influence.

The two arrested individuals were charged:

Michelle Jones age 38 of Ott Rd., Corbin charged with:

  • Careless driving
  • Operating on suspended or revoked operator's license
  • Trafficking in a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – Methamphetamine
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia

In addition, this subject was charged on a Laurel District Court bench warrant of arrest charging failure to appear for arraignment on charges of operating on suspended or revoked operator's license.

This subject was also charged on a Whitley District Court bench warrant of arrest charging:

  • Failure to pay regarding charges of possession of a controlled substance – third-degree

Jamie Douglas Wombles age 50 of Pine Ridge Rd., Williamsburg charged with:

  • Public intoxication – controlled substances
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia

These two individuals were lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
