UPDATE--NAME RELEASED: PUBLIC ASSISTANCE NEEDED WITH PEDESTRIAN HIT AND RUN CRASH ON INTERSTATE 84 IN WASCO COUNTY, OREGON

Troopers located a vehicle that belonged to the pedestrian in the area

WASCO COUNTY, OR (August 20, 2022) - The Oregon State Police is reporting that on Friday, August 19, 2022, at about 9:00 AM, an OSP Trooper located a deceased pedestrian on I-84 WB near milepost 89.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the pedestrian was struck by an unknown vehicle between the hours of 4:00 AM to 5:20 AM. 

UPDATE -- The name of the pedestrian: 

Jennifer Johnston, age (43), of Wellpinit, WA.

OSP continues to request anyone that may have witnessed or been traveling through the area and hit what they thought could be an animal on August 19, 2022 between the hours of 4:00 AM to 5:20 AM to please call *OSP (*677) or 800-442-0776.  Reference Case Number SP22-217109. 

No further information for release.

OSP Troopers are still on scene and more information will be released when it becomes available.
