BUSTED: K-9 Team arrests two Tennessee Men from Mosheim and Rogersville, TN with Three (3) Pounds of Crystal Methamphetamine during Traffic Stop near Interstate 75 in Laurel County, Kentucky

LONDON, KY (October 25, 2022) - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: On Tuesday, October 11, 2022 Laurel County Sheriff’s K-9 Deputy Brian France conducted a traffic stop on Gray Toyota Camry for disregarding a traffic light at the junction of I-75 south and West Cumberland Parkway in Southern Laurel County.

Dep. France made contact with the driver, Kenneth E. Broyles, 43, of Mosheim, TN.

Due to suspicious actions on the part of the driver and the passenger, Ernest W. Triplett Jr., 48, of Rogersville, TN, Deputy France deployed his K-9 partner “Maverick” in search of drugs. K-9 “Maverick” gave a positive indication to the odor of narcotics in the vehicle.

A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed approximately 3 lbs. of Crystal Methamphetamine and 2 firearms.

Arrested was:  The driver, Kenneth E. Broyles, 43, of Mosheim, TN and the passenger, Ernest W. Triplett Jr., 48, of Rogersville, TN.

Broyles and Triplett were charged with:

  • Trafficking in a Controlled Substance 1st Degree
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Both were lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.

Broyles was also charged with several traffic charges.

Deputy France and K-9 Maverick were assisted by Laurel County Sheriff's Interdiction Unit Justin Taylo , London Police Off. Joey Robinson, and Laurel Constable Robert Smith.
