WANTED LONDON, KENTUCKY MAN WITH METH LEADS POLICE ON HALF MILE FOOT CHASE BEFORE BEING TAKEN INTO CUSTODY WITH TWO OTHER LAUREL COUNTY MEN

LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Allen Turner arrested three individuals on Monday morning April 3, 2023 at approximately 10:10 AM.

The arrests occurred following a traffic stop conducted on a black Volkswagen Jetta on Johnson Road at Hatcher Road approximately 3 miles east of London.

During the traffic stop the driver and one passenger were found in possession of suspected Methamphetamine.

During the investigation, one of the male passengers, Willie Buttrey, fled from the traffic stop, crossing a creek and leading deputies and detectives on a half mile foot pursuit before being taken into custody.

Buttery and another male passenger were determined to have outstanding bench warrants.

The three arrested individuals were identified as: The driver, Jordan Chestnut age 39 of Taylor School Road, London, KY, Willie Buttrey, age 52 of JB Buttrey Road, London, KY and Brian Berwanger, age 26 of JB Buttrey Road, London, KY.

Jordan Chestnut was charged with:

  • Possession of a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – Methamphetamine

Willie Buttrey, the passenger who fled was charged with:

  • Possession of a controlled substance – first-degree – second offense – Methamphetamine

In addition, this individual was wanted on an outstanding bench warrant of arrest charging:

  • Failure to appear in court in Laurel District Court

Brian Berwanger was charged on a Laurel District Court bench warrant of arrest charging:

  • Failure to appear in court

These three individuals were lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
