CAPTURED: Laurels Sheriff’s Office “Most Wanted” Fugitive arrested at a Business off U.S. 25 North of London, Kentucky

LONDON, KY (April 13, 2023) - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Off-duty Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Tommy Houston spotted a wanted fugitive at a business off U.S. 25 of approximately 2 miles north of London on Wednesday afternoon April 12, 2023 at approximately 5:00 PM.

Deputy Houston contacted Laurel 911 dispatch and on-duty K-9/shift Sgt. Gary Mehler responded to the location confirming that the individual there was a Laurel Sheriff’s Office “Most Wanted” fugitive.

The individual was identified as David W. Landry age 39 of East Bernstadt, KY who was being sought on a case investigated by Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Greg Poynter.

This individual was taken into custody and transported to the Laurel County Correctional Center.

David Landry was charged with:

  • Burglary – third-degree
  • Criminal mischief – third-degree
  • Receiving stolen property

Allegedly, this individual used an object to break open the front door of Pit Stop Market & Deli located approximately 1 1/2 miles west of London on KY 192 on February 19, 2023.

Once inside the business this individual removed a Kentucky Lottery scratch off ticket container from behind the counter with an unknown number of tickets and then cashed them in multiple locations in Laurel County while being recorded on video surveillance.

David Landry was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
