Methamphetamine Seizure after Fleeing Suspect "blocked & stopped" on Highway 934 in Pulaski County, Kentucky

SOMERSET, KY - According to the Pulaski County Sheriff's Office, Sheriff Bobby Jones is reporting a Pulaski County man is in custody following a traffic stop on Thursday, April 20, 2023.

Pulaski County 200The incident began on Thursday when the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division and Lake Cumberland Area Drug Task Force were in the Highway 461 area of Pulaski County conducting interdiction surveillance when Detective Lieutenant Daryl Kegley observed a vehicle operated by a male subject Detectives were familiar with and was known to have a suspended driver’s license.

Detective Lt. Kegley ran the Kentucky registration through Pulaski 911 and discovered the insurance status was verify proof.

Detective Lt. Kegley activated his emergency equipment to conduct a traffic stop of the vehicle on Highway 934. The vehicle continued on, northbound, at a slow rate of speed, failing to stop for police.

Detective Tan Hudson, whose vehicle was in front of the fleeing suspect, activated his emergency equipment and slowed down, which convinced the driver to stop the vehicle.

Detectives approached the vehicle and ordered the driver, Danny Paul Goodman, age 56, of Nancy, KY to exit the vehicle. Goodman put the vehicle back into drive, in an attempt to flee again.

Detective Hudson began wrestling with Goodman, through the window of the vehicle, and was able to get the vehicle into park and remove the keys. Goodman was removed from the vehicle where he continued to resist law enforcement, until finally being taken into custody, without further incident.

While removing Goodman from the vehicle, a large baggie containing Methamphetamine was observed, in plain sight, in the driver’s floor board. The baggie was removed from the vehicle and a search of the vehicle was conducted. No other items were located

Following the search of the vehicle, Goodman was transported to the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office for processing, along with the evidence from the case.

The total approximated weight of the seized Methamphetamine was 320 grams.

Danny Goodman was arrested on the scene and charged with the following:

  • Driving on DUI Suspended License 1st Offense
  • Trafficking in Controlled Substance 1st Degree 2nd Offense (over 2 grams of Methamphetamine)
  • Fleeing Evading Police 1st Degree (Motor Vehicle)
  • Resisting Arrest

Goodman was transported and lodged at the Pulaski County Detention Center and is currently housed there at the time of this publication.
