LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Skyler McFarland investigated a single vehicle traffic fatality that resulted in the death of the driver and injuries to the passenger.
The investigating deputy reported that apparently the driver of a green colored Kawasaki KFX 400 ATV lost control of the vehicle traveling along Jim Garland Road, 4 miles east of London at approx.12:40 A.M. Sunday morning October 29th, 2023.
The vehicle struck a fence and tree causing the ATV to flip onto its side ejecting both the driver and passenger.
The driver was identified as Jeffrey Smith age 52 of London, KY and was pronounced deceased at the scene by Laurel County Coroner Doug Bowling.
The passenger was an 11 year-old male juvenile—transported to St. Joseph Hospital London for evaluation of possible injuries.
