LOUISVILLE, KY – Starting next month, you may purchase a colon cancer awareness license plate in Kentucky.
We have been patiently waiting for the last 3 years for a new colon cancer license plate, and next month it will be time to visit your county clerk and order that specialty plate.
The proceeds from the sale of the license plate will go to the KCCSPP, Kentucky Colon Cancer Screening and Prevention Program. Established in 2008, the program reduces colon cancer deaths through prevention and early detection of colon cancer. This is done by giving uninsured and underinsured Kentuckians with individual incomes at or less than 300 percent of poverty level access to high-quality colon cancer screening services, including colonoscopy. Who is eligible for a license plate?
Any owner of a noncommercial motor vehicle required to be registered for use on Kentucky Highways.
Steps Requirement:
Application must be made at your local County Clerk’s office. Upon receipt of this plate, your regular (special) issue license plate must be turned in or issued to another vehicle.

About the Colon Cancer Prevention ProjectThe Colon Cancer Prevention Project was founded in 2004 by Dr. Whitney Jones, a Louisville gastroenterologist with a passion for preventing colon cancer. The Project began as a small grassroots organization with a mission of eliminating preventable colon cancer death and suffering. It quickly grew to include work across Kentucky, Indiana, and the country. Dr. Jones has been recognized locally and nationally for his work, including winning the 2011 Laurel Award for Advocacy from the Prevent Cancer Foundation.
