LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Bobby Roberts along with Deputy Cyruss McVey arrested Johnathon Brantley age 49 of Brooksville, Florida on Sunday night February 18, 2024 at approximately 8:40 PM.
The arrest occurred on I–75 approximately 8 miles South of London after deputies responded to a two vehicle injury traffic crash there.
Upon arrival at the scene, deputies conducted an investigation and learned that allegedly a vehicle had ran out of fuel and that a male subject in the vehicle had attempted to exit the vehicle to push the car.
Apparently, as he exited the vehicle a black Honda struck his vehicle in the rear. The driver of the black Honda, identified as Johnathon Brantley age 49 of Brooksville, Florida stated that he was on his phone and when he looked up he hit the car in the rear.
The victim vehicle was occupied by a female reportedly six months pregnant that was injured and had to be airlifted from the scene for medical attention.
Johnathon Brantley was charged with:
- Driving a motor vehicle using a handheld mobile telephone
- Two counts of wanton endangerment – first-degree
- Assault – first-degree
This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
