LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Bobby Roberts arrested Thomas Saylor age 48 of London on Monday night February 26, 2024 at approximately 10:23 PM.
The arrest occurred on Waterworks Road, approximately 2 miles west of London after Deputy Roberts was dispatched to a complaint of a male subject laying in the road that had almost been struck by a car.
Upon arrival at the scene, Deputy Roberts located the male suspect in the middle of the roadway. Upon making contact with the suspect, the suspect identified himself as an off duty police officer and then took off running.
Following a foot chase, the suspect briefly struggled with Deputy Roberts and took a swing at Deputy Roberts before being taken into custody.
This subject continued to identify himself as a police officer stating that he couldn't be arrested.
This individual was determined to be under the influence and was wanted on an outstanding warrant.
Thomas Saylor was charged with:
- Alcohol intoxication in a public place
- Fleeing or evading police – second-degree – on foot
- Assault – third-degree – police officer is victim
- Wanton endangerment – second-degree – police officer is victim
- Resisting arrest
- Impersonating a peace officer
In addition, this subject was charged on a Laurel District Court bench warrant of arrest charging failure to appear in court on charges of:
- Alcohol Intoxication
This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
