CLEATON, KY – The Kentucky State Police (KSP) is reporting that: On Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at approximately 2:51 p.m. (CT), the Muhlenberg County Sheriff’s Department requested KSP Post 2 to investigate a fatal structure fire in Muhlenberg County.
Preliminary investigation determined that David E. Poole, 72, of Cleaton, KY was pronounced deceased on scene by the Muhlenberg County Coroner.
An autopsy was scheduled for Thursday.
The Kentucky State Police was assisted by the Muhlenberg County Sheriff’s Department, Muhlenberg County Coroner’s Office, Central City Fire Department, Drakesboro Fire Department, and the Kentucky State Fire Marshal.
The case remains under investigation by Detective Jacob Fortney.
